Honda Australia’s inbound 2026 Honda Super-One EV will be one of the safest small cars ever made when it arrives on sale in the second half of this year.
The Japanese brand says Super-One has been designed and engineered to meet the higher international safety standards of larger cars.
Now tipped to achieve the maximum five-star safety rating in the Euro NCAP and the Australasian New Car Assessment Program (ANCAP) it has been built to withstand tests like the government-mandated side impact tests at 32km/h.

Previously, Japanese brands that build cars under the kei car regs only have to undergo impact tests at a slower 26km/h.
Honda Australia had previously stated the Super-Oner must hit a four star ANCAP at a minimum to satisfy local customer expectations.

Helping the Super-One EV provide higher levels of protection, the baby Honda is longer (3.6m) and wider (1.6m) than the Kei class rules that limit dimensions to 3.4m long and 1.48m wide in return for tax breaks.
Loosely based on the Honda N-One kei car already on sale, it’s still not known if the Super-One will share the smaller car’s 47kW electric motor.
But it has been confirmed it will come with a boost mode, a simulated seven-speed manual gearbox and piped-in engine-like noises.
Another question mark hangs over how big the battery will be, but the N-One is expected to come with a 30kWh battery pack that provides for a driving range of around 300km.

Earlier prototypes (as above) sported wide wheel arches, sports seats and triple-gauge instrument cluster to underline its performance orientation.
That hints a fast version could be offered.
Tailoring the ride and drive to European tastes, the Honda Super-One has already undergone extensive testing in the UK and other countries outside Japan across Asia.
It has also been spied testing in Australia.
Created to rival the likes of the BYD Atto 1 and Fiat 500e, the Honda Super-One has been tipped to be priced from $35,000 plus on-roads.
Expect Honda to reveal the production-spec Honda Super-One in the coming months.
