The offer combines access to Octopus’ roaming EV charging network, Electroverse; the Intelligent Octopus home tariff, which offers beneficial home charging pricing during off-peak hours; plus an EV leasing scheme. For reference, Electroverse is a large aggregated charging network offered by Octopus which provides access to over one million charge points worldwide and reportedly adds around 500 new connections on average per day. Intelligent Octopus is meanwhile split into two tariff rates; the ‘Standard’ option offers a working price per kWh between midnight and 5AM based on the tariff area within Germany, while the cheaper ‘Go’ option is typically €0.08ct less than this. Both are accompanied by six hours of reduced energy costs for the rest of the home.
What’s happening with the latest announcement, though, is that this is being combined with EV leasing capabilities through Octopus EV – bringing Germany in line with other regions like the UK. This covers both personal vehicle leasing and fleet-level leasing through the Intelligent EV scheme. Octopus has also stated that it will “soon” bring the same V2G capabilities it offers in the UK to Germany. These use the car battery to feed power back into the grid at peak times, effectively turning home charged EVs into battery storage stations for the grid.
Octopus states that the offer will become available to German customers in early 2026, through a streamlined process whereby drivers will be able to register, get their EV, charger installation, and Octopus Energy tariff all arranged via a single application.
