BYD’s Sealion 7 electric SUV, launched earlier this year, has become the country’s second best selling EV, raking in almost 8,500 of sales over the last eight months.
Now, the company has announced that it will be offering a $2,000 accessories bonus for new buyers who order the popular electric SUV and take delivery by the end of next month.
In an email received by the company’s subscriber base, BYD Australia said that to qualify the vehicle must be ordered by 31 October and delivered by 30 November.”
This offer will certainly create a buzz amongst new EV buyers who could put $2,000 towards car care, EV accessories and BYD merchandise.
Having said that, the company’s website says that the $2,000 credit can not be redeemed as “cash, a discount on vehicle price or deferred for future use.”

The BYD Sealion 7 is offered in two variants, Premium and Performance, with prices starting at $54,990 for the entry-level model. The top-spec performance variant bumps up to $63,990 before on-road costs.
The entry-level Sealion 7 Premium is powered by a single 230 kW rear-mounted motor, which delivers a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 6.7 seconds.
Moving up to the Performance variant comes with 390 kW of power thanks to a 230 kW rear motor and a 160 kW front motor. This powertrain setup helps it get a 0-100 km/h acceleration time of 4.5 seconds.
Both Sealion 7 variants are equipped with an 82.56 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) BYD blade battery pack, which can be charged at speeds up to 150 kW when DC charging.
There is also an on-board 11 kW AC charger for three-phase charging, an upgrade over previous model,s which only offered 7 kW single-phase charging.
The large battery pack offers a range of 482 km on the Premium model, while the Performance sees the range cut to 456 km, given its dual-motor powertrain.

On the inside, there is a 15.6-inch infotainment screen, which also features Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as standard.
On top of that, there is a premium 12-speaker Dynaudio sound system for an immersive sound experience.
This SUV model is available in four colours, with only white available free of charge. More popular colours such as Atlantis Grey and Cosmos Black see a pricing of $1,500, while the Shark Grey bumps that up to $2,000.
With sales of the Sealion 7 seeing a boost in recent months, it confirms that there is a big appetite for mid-sized electric SUVs in our market.

In recent months, the refreshed Tesla Model Y has also been seeing an uptick in sales, with September making it the best-selling passenger car with almost 4,000 sales, while BYD Sealion 7 had its best month with 1,887 sales.
