BYD was one of Australia’s fastest-growing car brands in 2025, driven by strong demand for electric vehicles such as the Sealion 7 and Atto 3.
In November, the company introduced a $3,000 cashback offer on selected models as part of a push to finish the year among the top 10 brands for new-car sales. That incentive has now been extended into 2026.
BYD Australia has confirmed the $3,000 cashback will remain available until 31 January 2026 for buyers of the Sealion 7, Seal and Atto 3. The offer does not apply to the recently launched low-cost Atto 1 and Atto 2 electric SUVs.
In an email to customers, BYD Australia said the promotion had been extended to provide “more value” on selected models through the end of January.
The offer applies to private buyers who purchase and take delivery of an eligible vehicle by 31 January 2026. It is also available on BYD’s Sealion 6 and Shark 6 plug-in hybrid models, suggesting healthy local stock availability.
BYD has expanded rapidly in the Australian market since launching the Atto 3 in 2022, which at the time was one of the most affordable ground-up electric SUVs on sale.
The company had forecast around 40,000 local deliveries in 2025 but exceeded that target by a wide margin, selling well over 50,000 vehicles for the year. Growth has been driven by a combination of price reductions and frequent model launches, increasing both affordability and choice for EV buyers.
Toward the end of 2025, BYD also began deliveries of the Atto 2 electric SUV and the Atto 1, currently Australia’s cheapest EV, with a starting price below $24,000. These models are expected to contribute to further sales growth in the first half of 2026.
Globally, BYD sold more than 2.2 million battery-electric vehicles in 2025, ahead of Tesla, which delivered just under 1.7 million. The company also recorded strong growth in export volumes, underlining its expansion beyond the increasingly competitive Chinese EV market.
The latest cashback offer appears aimed at accelerating deliveries of in-stock vehicles, and its impact on sales of the Sealion 7, Atto 3 and Seal will be closely watched in the months ahead.
