The BMW Group has reported a 28.2 per cent increase in battery-electric vehicle sales in Europe, though it has not provided an absolute figure for BEVs delivered on the continent. Instead, the Munich-based company states that battery-electric vehicles accounted for around 18 per cent of its global sales.

When including plug-in hybrids (PHEVs), more than one in four vehicles delivered last year featured a charging port, representing 26 per cent of all global deliveries. In 2025, in a challenging environment, the BMW Group sold more vehicles than in the previous year. Our electrified vehicles were in particularly high demand. Europe reported especially strong growth, with battery-electric vehicles accounting for about a quarter of total sales, and BEVs and PHEVs combined reaching a share of over 40% across the region. We remain fully on track to meet our EU CO₂ fleet target for 2025,” said Jochen Goller, member of the Board of Management of BMW AG responsible for Customer, Brands, Sales. This aligns with a recent forecast by the think tank ICCT.

Across all drive types, the carmaker delivered 2,463,715 vehicles to customers worldwide in 2025 – a 0.5 per cent increase compared to 2024. The BMW brand itself delivered 2,169,761 vehicles to customers in 2025 (-1.4 per cent). Mini saw a significant increase of 17.7 per cent, with 288,290 deliveries, while Rolls-Royce experienced a slight decline of 0.8 per cent, delivering 5,664 units.

Unlike the previous year, the BMW Group has not provided BEV shares by brand but highlights that more than one in three Minis featured a fully electric drive. Additionally, 2025 marked a significant milestone in the electrification of the British subsidiary: six years after the introduction of the first electric Mini, the BMW subsidiary delivered its 100,000th fully electric vehicle to a customer. Mini now offers three electric models: the Mini Cooper Electric, the Mini Aceman, and the Mini Countryman Electric.

Fourth quarter significantly weaker than in 2024

A brief look at the delivery figures for the fourth quarter reveals a decline: between October and December 2025, the BMW Group sold 118,635 electric cars – a 10.5 per cent decrease compared to Q4 2024. Including plug-in hybrids, the total was 171,800 electrified vehicles, marking a 6.6 per cent drop. For annual comparison: in Q3 2025, the BMW Group delivered 102,864 BEVs and 151,282 electrified vehicles across all brands. However, the fourth quarter has traditionally been significantly stronger in sales than the third quarter.

Looking ahead to the new year, BMW Board Member Jochen Goller emphasises the importance of the new electric platform Neue Klasse, which will debut in the new electric SUV BMW iX3. “Especially in Europe, 2026 will be marked by the Neue Klasse. At the same time, we will be introducing several new models this year, such as the BMW X5, BMW 3 Series, and BMW 7 Series. In total, the BMW Group will launch more than 40 new and revised vehicles with various drive options by 2027,” said Goller. However, the BMW Group has not provided specific sales targets for 2026 or a target for the share of electric vehicles.
