In 2024, Volvo, the Swedish carmaker, launched its first all-electric small SUV, the EX30, in Australia, which has been a bit of a success in its local lineup.
Now, the Scandinavian brand has unveiled the pricing of its upcoming high-riding adventurous variant it calls the EX30 Cross Country.
The price is $69,990 before on-roads, which is slightly under the price of the Twin Performance Ultra found on the standard EX30.
“We launched our first Cross Country car over 25 years ago, and this concept of durable and all-weather cars is core to the Volvo brand,” Stephen Connor, managing director of Volvo Car Australia, said in a statement.
“In the country of our origin the winters are harsh, and the summer is savored, whereas we in Australia get to enjoy the great outdoors all year round by getting out and exploring our amazing nature and that is where the EX30 Cross Country delivers a fully rounded experience.”
The updated range on this variant is expected to be around 427 km on the WLTP cycle, from the 69 kWh battery pack found on the standard EX30.
Although the car is the smallest vehicle Volvo will be offering in Australia, the new Cross Country variant sees a 19 mm increase in ground clearance and a suspension setup that, with its 18-inch wheels, would tackle tough terrains more easily than the standard car.
On the outside, the Volvo EX30 has a distinctive look with its ‘Thor’s Hammer’ signature headlight. That sets the Volvos apart from many other vehicles on our roads. Along with that, there is a new patterned front bumper, chunky front and rear skidplates, as well as rugged wheel arch extensions.
Moving onto the inside, there is a single 12.3-inch vertically-mounted display with Google built-in apps, along with Wireless Apple CarPlay.
This single screen has a minimalistic design, as seen in many other cars from Volvo in recent years, and this time features a soundbar speaker concept as standard.
The soundbar integrates tweeters, mid-range speakers and a woofer outlet and covers the full width of the dashboard. That’s expected to offer a new in-car sound experience for owners.
Like the standard, EX30 is also expected to receive over-the-air (OTA) updates to keep the latest software and a modern ownership experience.

The Volvo EX30 comes with a 5-year unlimited kilometre warranty, an 8-year roadside assistance package, and an 8-year battery warranty.
The new Cross Country variant can be ordered now from Volvo’s website or at the local dealers.
