The 2026 Polestar 3 has set a new Guinness World Record for the distance travelled on a single charge by an SUV after covering 935.44km on UK roads in one day.

The record drive, completed in a Polestar 3 Long Range Single Motor, took a lengthy 22 hours and 57 minutes, with the professional efficiency drivers averaging 12.1kWh/100km in what’s described as mixed weather conditions that included range-sapping rain.

Exceeding the Polestar 3’s claimed WLTP range of 706km by more than 229km, the record drive was carried out by Sam Clark, Kevin Brooker and Richard Parker who each drove for three-hour stretches at a time.

They didn’t exactly thrash the luxury SUV, averaging little more than 40km/h over the entire journey that included single-track lanes, highways and country roads.

Beating the existing 916.75km that was set in a Ford Mustang Mach-E in 2024, the big Polestar 3 matched small EVs for efficiency during its drive and achieved its official range with a 20 per cent charge remaining.

It even drove for an impressive 12.8km after showing 0 per cent battery.

The unmodified Polestar 3 rode on its standard 20-inch alloy wheels shod with stock Michelin Sport 4 EV tyres.

Adjudicated by Guinness World Record judges, the range attempt was independently monitored and then verified thanks to video footage, odometer readings, GPS data and the onboard battery charge level indicators.

The new record comes just days after a lightly modified Chevrolet Silverado set an unofficial record in the States after it travelled 1704.6km on a charge.

That drive saw the full-size ute, with a massive 205kWh battery, drive at low speeds of 32-40km/h than the world record-setting Lucid Air that covered 1205km on a charge driving from St Moritz in Switzerland to Munich in Germany.

Commenting on the drive Polestar CEO Michael Lohscheller said:

“We are very proud to say we have a world record holder in the Polestar family! This official Guinness World Record for range is another proof point that Polestar 3 is setting new standards. We will continue to push the boundaries of technology and electric performance.”
