Australia’s cheapest petrol-electric hybrid SUV has been fully specified and rolled into showrooms.
The two-model Chery Tiggo 4 Hybrid range starts with the $29,990 drive-away Urban and then steps up to the $34,990 drive-away Ultimate.

Based on non run-out or discount campaign pricing, Australia’s next cheapest hybrid SUV is the MG ZS Hybrid+ positioned at $32,990 drive-away.
Other logical petrol-electric rivals for the Tiggo 4 include the GWM Haval Jolion, Hyundai Kona and Toyota Yaris Cross and Corolla Cross.
Chery is charging an extra $6000 for the hybrid powertrain in Urban trim and $8000 more in Ultimate trim compared to the 1.5-litre four-cylinder Tiggo 4 line-up already on-sale.
Chery’s new series-parallel hybrid system combines a 1.5-litre petrol engine with a permanent magnet synchronous electric motor.
The petrol engine produces maximum power/torque of 71kW/120Nm, while the electric motor provides 150kW/310Nm.
Chery claims combined fuel economy of 5.4L/100km.
The two Tiggo 4 Hybrids are powered by an identical powertrain, which means they are separated by equipment.

The Tiggo 4 is covered by Chery’s seven-year unlimited-kilometre warranty, seven years of capped price servicing and up to seven years of roadside assistance.
The Tiggo 4 has proved a hit for Chery, with 10,061 sold to the end of July 2025, making it Australia’s fourth most popular small SUV.
