The Tesla brand is known for its high-tech features, and a California Model Y owner with the handle Mr & Mrs Sarna (@mrmrssarna) has highlighted three that the average owner might not be aware of.
Making The Best Use Of The Frunk
While Teslas are widely known for their unique front trunks, Sarna shared that she has found a unique use for the space.
“I use it as a cooler,” she said. “You just add ice, drinks and you’re good to go. There’s drainage as well if you want to use it as a cooler.”
It should be noted that frunks in Teslas prior to the Model Y were not designed to put ice directly inside, and some Reddit users have noted that this has caused significant issues with their vehicles.
However, the frunk in the Model Y is uniquely designed with “a waterproof liner as well as a drain plug at the bottom.” There can be complications, however, and Tesla notes that customers should not drive if water or ice in the frunk is not in containers.
Additionally, Tesla owners can buy a cooler specifically compatible with the Tesla frunk where the ice can be contained, diminishing the possibility of complications.
Saving Money On Charging
Sarna also mentions that she has found a way to save money by taking advantage of the ability to schedule when your vehicle charges.
“I have set up my charging to start at 12:15am when electricity is cheapest,” she said. “It’s a very easy money saver tip.”
Sarna is not the only Tesla user who has saved money by charging their vehicle at night. For example, one Nevada Tesla owner was able to take advantage of a rate plan offered by his energy provider specifically for electric vehicle owners that offered especially low electricity prices at night.
Sarna also notes a fun hidden feature that can be seen when charging your vehicle. “If you press the charger button 10 times fast, the Tesla logo will go rainbow mode,” she revealed.
Using The Tesla As A Traveling Boombox
The last feature Sarna highlights is the Boombox feature. “I can play custom music sounds through the outside speakers,” she shared. “Music, memes and even a ghost scream if I want.”
The versatile feature even once included a special setting where you could customize the horn. However, in 2022, Tesla released an update that disables the Boombox feature while the vehicle is in drive.
