Australian electric vehicle (EV) distributor and mining transport logistics provider AusEV has brought the Tesla Model Y into its expanding offering of electric fleet vehicles tailored to the mining and resources sector.
AusEV, which bills itself as Australia’s first all-electric vehicle “upfitter”, announced the addition of the Model Y to its fleet offerings at its WA Drive Day held last week.
Unlike the Ford F-150 Lightnings that AusEV unveiled earlier this year which have been converted to right-hand-drive, the Tesla Model Y’s are obviously already right-hand-drive capable, given the car’s popularity across Australia.
“We’re absolutely thrilled to introduce the Tesla Model Y to AusEV’s line-up,” said Edward Kocwa, CEO of Bosscap Group, the parent company of AusEV,” who added that the addition of the Tesla Model Y to its offerings demonstrates the company’s commitment to advancing transport options in Australia’s industry and resource sectors.
“This vehicle is not only built for performance, safety, and durability, but it also represents a big leap forward in how the mining sector can transition toward cleaner and smarter fleet solutions.
“Our customers are looking for reliability, lower cost of ownership, efficiency and innovation. The Model Y delivers on all fronts.”
The Model Y joins the Ford F-150 Lightnings that AusEV offers for the mining and resources sector, importing them from the United States and partnering with Brisbane based Advanced Manufacturing Queensland (AMQ) who performs the conversion from left- to right-hand-drive.
AusEV and AMQ also make additional modifications, such as installing an extra 12volt battery and offering solar cells mounted on the bonnet of the car to charge the battery.
