Details on the exact power output of each fast-charging unit were not provided; nor were the exact mix of charger types (i.e. the number of fast vs ultra-fast charging ports per location). However, Allego has confirmed that the chargers will feature capacity of up to 150kW. The firm has also said that the charging hubs will feature battery storage and intelligent load balancing to enable high charging speeds using existing grid connections.
Hornbach stores typically feature large car parks, and the companies state the chargers are predominantly designed for customer use. Stephen Smits, Financial Director of Hornbach Netherlands, said: “Thanks to Allego’s new fast-charging hubs in our parking lots, customers will soon be able to easily charge their electric cars or DIY vans. With their purchased materials and a full battery, they can then drive effortlessly to their projects and get back to work quickly.”
Hornbach has not provided information on how access will work for drivers who aren’t visiting one of their DIY stores, however Allego chargers are typically accessed by contactless payment or the Allego-owned Smoov app, so it is almost certain that wider public access will be offered.

The new charging hubs will begin rollout in early 2026, with all locations set to be operational by Q4 of next year. Allego states that this will bring its total network in the Netherlands up to 80 fast-charging hubs.
