Australia’s fastest charging electric car, the Zeekr 7X, was launched in Australia in August after receiving over 3,000 pre-orders in the months to follow.

Now, at an event in Melbourne, the brand has delivered its 1,000th 7X SUV to a customer while announcing the expansion of its dealer network.

The 1,000th delivery was a green 7X and took place less than 2 months after the first deliveries of the car began nationwide.

At the event at Zeekr’s newest dealership in South Yarra, Frank Li, Vice President, Zeekr International, and Managing Director, Zeekr Australia, said that the company now has 14 dealers and a local spare parts arrangement in place as its customer base grows.

The 7X SUV has been quite a popular model since its launch in August in Australia, largely because of its pricing.

Locally, three variants of the 7X are offered with pricing (before on-roads) starting at $57,900. The Long Range RWD variant bumps that up to $63,900 while the top-spec Performance AWD is priced from $72,900.

The base RWD variant features Zeekr’s 75 kWh Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery pack, which allows for charging speeds of up to 450 kW, thanks to the 800 V architecture the model sits on.

This battery pack delivers a WLTP range of up to 480 km on a single charge. We recently tested this at a 350 kW charger and achieved 347 kW fairly easily. More on that test in the official test drive review to follow.

All variants of the 7X have an on-board 22 kW AC charging, making the 7X in its RWD trim, one of the very few cars that fall under $60,000 that come equipped with it.

From the entry-level RWD, the Long Range RWD variant bumps the range up to 615 km, while this Long Range car comes with a 100 kWh Nickel-Manganese-Cobalt (NMC) battery.

For those wanting even more, the top-spec Performance AWD variant can accelerate from 0-100 km/h in just 3.8 seconds. This variant also uses the 100 kWh battery as the Long Range RWD and offers a WLTP range of up to 543 km.

The 7X also comes with vehicle-to-load (V2L) capability with 3.3 kW output, giving owners the option to power other electrical devices straight from the battery.

For those looking to tow in the AWD Performance variant, a 2-tonne towing capacity is also available. That’s plenty for trailers or even some lighter caravans on the market.

There are plenty of electric SUVs that have recently launched in the market, and a few more to come, adding to the competition the Zeekr 7X is likely to have.

So far, though, the first 1,000 cars on our roads is a milestone, and given the backlog, a few more of these are to come.

We plan to test-drive the car on local roads in the coming weeks to see what it’s like, so stay tuned.
